My Cousin's Wedding

Cousin Ian coaches his buddies to not take things too far.

In the stairwell to Ying Ying's apartment, we wait for negotiations.

The main door opened quickly, but the inner door...

After pushing and spraying much of the canned foam - the guys managed to shove into the bedroom.

But Ying Ying wasn't inside.

Instead, they found some very annoyed bridemaids.

In the next room, calmly waiting, was Ying Ying.

Photos with Ying Ying's parents and brother.

And we're off!

Pretty maids all in a row - wearing the exact things Mom forbade me to wear.

Procession of dowry goods from Ying Ying's side of the family.

The couple arrives with a rain of confetti.

The happy cheering crowd back at the apartment.
 First duties as wife.

While others worked and other waited.

Done!  With time to spare!

A kiss for her new mother-in-law.

Offerings to the ancestors include bowls of rice and pieces of  "Wife Cake".

The ladies teach Ying Ying how to roll the yuan zi.

She and Aunt 5 sit and make a batch.

Finally, the pair have a chance to take a break.

Ying Ying teases Cousin Ian about his bling.
The first of the pretend meals.  This one is served from an antique woven basket / platter that came was brought in from the village especially for this occassion.

Onward!  Back to the Bride's family's home.

View from the dashboard.
Much cleaned up from the "festivities" earlier, Ying Ying's parents partake tea in their living room - followed by another "meal".

At the reception site:

Bow to the bride's family.

Bow to the groom's family.

Bow to each other.

The kiss sets off fireworks.

The meal's dessert: Sweet steamed buns!

Ying Ying shows a little love for her good friend who kept her beautifully made up and coiffed for the whole day.
(Left: Gow Jie goes for the gold.)
Back at home - we eat cake.
