Muttart: More Green Envy

A visit to the Muttart with Paul and Jackie.

The views are pretty impressive from the outside: The entrance area lined with cafe-style tables and chairs and huge planters filled with dramatic plants (a hint of what was inside).  Simply by climbing up the hill we could see this beautiful skyline too.

A mini version (pop-up greeting card) available in the giftshop.

Our first stop was to the Temperate pyramid.  Five feet tall alliums stunned, and there were fruit on some of the trees.  I so wanted to pick the peaches (the figs weren't ripe yet).

Left: Persimmons not yet ripe.

The Feature Pyramid seemed ready for a wedding (Below and right). The sun was incredibly bright with little shade, unlike the others.

In the Arid Pyramid, things were mostly spikey.  Bright flowers always seemed to come with huge thorns.

It was, however, a nice place to take rest.

... and wonder if anyone would notice if I picked a date...

The Tropical Pyramid - still my favourite - didn't disappoint.  Humid and lush, it's home to some of the strangest looking flowers and plants.

(Above: Given below is a "Shrimp Plant" the above a "Lobster"?)

Left: Orchids!

There was a big empty planter where "The Corpse Flower" had been.  This sign, atleast, gave us some idea of it, without having to smell it.  (CBC's coverage of the bloom back in April-2013 found here.)

Indeed "We Are Here."
