A quiet walk had turned into another adventure with a skip and a jump.
On the other side of the bridge, past some trees was a steam engine pulling cars filled with people: The Canadian Northern Rail.
We followed the tracks and made it to a settlement where Union Jacks were proudly displayed (I think this comforted Paul).
No one seemed to mind that we were wandering around. (Some people we encountered were dressed as we were, while others were dressed as if from the past. Quite bizarre.) We went into buildings to explore, as others did. Paul spotted a strange photo... a past ancestor?
We were puzzled, but decided to go further into the settlement. As we walked on, older smaller houses gave way to larger, grander models. In the middle of a park like area was a enclosure with animals.
Paul thought this unusual creature (left) very cute (the rule seems to be: small things that act like big things, or big things that act like small things). But its keeper advised it would be quite dangerous if we tried to pat its tummy or head. We were thinking we should turn back when we saw a sign warning of Spanish Flu! It was definitely time for us to go before we became infected.
We raced back the way we came and found the bridge where we expected it. We crossed, walked through the trees, back to something more familiar.
